It will handle both bands without the need for any manual setup on your part. 2.4 only devices will connect at 2.4. For dual band devices the router has a feature (Band Steering) which directs devices to 5.0 first and if the signal degrades it will connect at 2.4

Ignore the first answer, not everything likes smart connect WiFi. Yes you can make other SSIDs with just the 2.4 band.
