Can speaker be used without downloading the app? null

yes. the app is for changing the eq and you can remotely turn it on/off.

Yes one can play music from any Bluetooth music source such as Apple Music or Pandora, however if you want to play stereo the speakers must be linked by the app.

No the older version of this speaker works with out the app

I just connected to this speaker using Bluetooth and uala works great, no third party app on my phone.
