I live in italy most of the year and what I do is get a prepaid vodafone sim. there is one plan that is unlimited for 24 euro a month, you can put more money on the phone using their app or go into a phone store to put credit on, there is also one for 10 euro which gives a lot of data and even calls to the usa but you can do that using whats app for free.. Save your money and get the sim card at a vodafone store. vodafone will also work in France. I don't think this is a good thing to do , using a us sim card in italy or france, Italy has tons of cell service companies. vodafone, wind tre, Tim, Illiad to name a few, and they are a fraction of Us costs. trust me, dont waste your money.
