• If your cable company uses a cable box (almost all do), this device will not do the trick. You will need a HDHomerun Prime box and a computer with a media center (Windows Media Center, Plex, Emby...) to record and view the content from a cable company.

• If you mean you have subscription cable, you will be a DVR service. That is usually provided by your cable company. If you are cutting the cord and want to record shows on your silicon dust, you will need to sign up for their cloud vases DVR service.
