Yes it has an app. The unit is directly related to Verizon cell service where the unit is located. So bad cell signal, no locate service. I owned this unit for 5 days and called tech support 10 times. Try Mastrack, a true GPS service.

But you can set geofences to alert when it entered or exits those zones. You can also set speed alerts so if it goes over X MPH you get an alert. It will show you what street the car was in at the time of the alert
