The unit works as an independent WiFi source. I gave the unit to my youngest child who uses it to power their Amazon stick and run WiFi from restaurants and the car. Cable would have cost 50 to 70 dollars a month. I’m on Verizon and it’s the 20 dollars for another line plus taxes. It’s secure and it didn’t tie up their hotspot on their phone... it works for us.

Mine is a third device on my current Verizon unlimited data plan and stays at my house acting as an ISP. Should work the same way in a vehicle. As long as there is service where you travel.
