“I am asking for my parents . If they upgrade to a smartphone on their current prepaid plan, will they need to increase the amount that they pay right now? Or will they be able to use the features of the phone with their current price of 100 for 2 phones”

Shouldn't have to spend more, depending on how much data they want on their plan. I have my prepaid on a family plan and it's super cheap for each line that way.
