“Will this support a dvc codec i have a lot of home movies and the cam corder and other software i tried to use doesn't recognize the files it says no codec found i don't want to throw away 70$ if this isn't going to work.”

This converter comes with his own program that you download to your computer. when your downloading the program with the CD that comes with it make sure that your player that you use to watch your old movies is connected to the converter then the converter to the computer thru USB connector. then you have to use a DVD disc to burn your old VHS movies to DVD. you can also connect your com corder to the converter to burn your old videos. hoping this will help. I'm still burning my old VHS videos then my Hi8 videos next.
