There are online calculators for throw distance vs. screen size (I use the one on projector central). This projector does have a zoom lens. For example for a 140" screen the recommended mounting distance is 15' 3" to 16' 9". I have mine set right in the middle (at 16' 0") and the clarity is fine on the 140" screen.
