“I didn't get the start guide for this product and am trying to hook it up to my laptop via the enclosed cable with the USB end but my laptop says it's not finding it. I've tried changing the input settings and restarting my laptop several times.”

Your laptop won’t detect the VG2448A through the USB cable because that port is only for the monitor’s built‑in USB hub, so you’ll need to connect it with HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA instead.
