• No. You only need bluetooth if you are using the phone ap.

• No, please remember this is encrypted connection the module will remember your phone once it has been paired. You need to keep you Bluetooth on at all time to use it flawlessly The only way you would have to keep turning Bluetooth is if you turn your Bluetooth off to save phone battery power then it may be a pain but just leave Bluetooth on and ur golden.
