“Manual says DS4+ is compatible with D9857V/D9756V Viper RF Kit 5-button 2-way LED/LCD Rechargeable (Pg 16 manual). BestBuy only has 7856V/7857V 2-way LED 5-button. These two models are not listed as compatible with DS4+, so are they out of the question?”

I purchased it with the 7857V upgrade, which IS listed on the box as compatible. It works great. I went with the upgrade both for the 2 way feature and the extended range. I have one caveat on the range. That combination is rated for 1 mile. Actual range is dependent on the circumstances - maximum range can only be achieved if you are outside and in line of sight to your car. I have no problem starting the car from inside my house, at church, or at the store. From the office is a different story. My office building is just a bit over 1/3 miles from the parking lot, with several other buildings between. I can't start the car from inside. By the time I walk about 1/4 block, I can start it. That's fine if I just need to take a bit of the chill or heat out of the car, since my Kia Soul heats and cools really quickly. However, it's not all that helpful in ice and snow. I'm considering adding the Smart Start module.
