It comes on and goes off with the tv
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The bar is turned off and on with its own remote only. It does not use the tv as the controller once connected via HDMI. However, once the volume is adjusted on the sound bar, then you can use your TV remote to control the volume. There is an exception to this. Not sure if it does it with all Vizio TV remotes, but my TV remote turns the TV on and the sound bar at the same time if they are both off. This is only because the frequency for power on off is the same for both. So it only works if both are off or on and in the same line of sight of the remote. If you are like me and use it to via Bluetooth for music with the TV off and decided to turn the TV on then it turns the bar off and I have to use the actual bar remote to turn the bar back on as the bar remote doesn't effect the TV.
