Answering my own question here. After seeing no on-line complaints about this I decided to take a chance and try it out by drilling holes to wall mount the unit, and the answer is "YES!" . The sound bar somehow recognizes it is wall mounted and swaps the audio channels to keep right and left channels on the correct sides. Very smart design.
