• Yes you can choose the channel and enter it or you can use the up and down depending upon your mood

• Yes, you can punch in individual numbers, it has all the numbers and extras on the remote.

• Yes when it stays connected to the tv. Remote tends to become disconnected requiring battery removal from he remote, then turning the tv off, pressing every button on the remote to make sure none are stuck, return batteries to return, plug in tv then turn on. This is the solution according to the help line. Do it all over again after you turn the tv off.

• It is my understanding that if you have it hooked up to cable or satellite then you can use the individual numbers. When you use wifi only then you cannot.

• You can use the remote to do both : move channels up and down or key in individual channel .
