• No, you do not have to use your cell phone, tablet, nor computer to use the smart apps. All of them plus others can be accessed using the remote that comes with the TV. In fact, the remote has shortcut buttons for Netflix, Hulu, iHeart Radio, on it. Once you connect the TV to your home WiFi, which was also very simple, you're all set. (Provided you have an account of course. Netflix, Amazon, etc.) Hope this helps. FLP01

• No, it’s a smart tv so apps are already installed. Netflix, Hulu, Pluto and some others. If you have an android device you can cast to the tv.
