The soundbar comes with 3 cables, Optical. Coaxial, and the typical audio cables(White and Red) as well as bluetooth and an Auxiliary cable. If you have your DVD/Bluray player/Xbox/etc. hooked up to your tv all you need is the optical cable running from the back of your TV to your Soundbar. ANY and ALL sounds from the TV will be played through the soundbar. No need for a splitter. IF you have a CD player or some other unit you would like hooked up, you can use one of the other provided cables to connect them to the soundbar on a different input. if your done watching TV and you would like to listen to music, you would just switch inputs on the soundbar and then hit play on the CD player.
