The TV will only be able to show the resolution it is receiving. Some connected devices such as set top boxes may have a setting that can be adjusted but we do recommend using an HDMI cable to ensure you receive the highest resolution possible.

If your DISH box only outputs in standard definition (480p), that is the resolution that will be displayed on the TV. If you have an HD package and HD box through DISH, I would recommend connecting the box to the TV using an HDMI cable instead of the coax cable to get the best possible performance. It sounds like you can set the time information on the TV in the main System menu. You can follow the steps in your user manual, here: https://cdn.vizio.com/documents/d32hnd0/um-d32hnd0.pdf.
