“I'm wanting this TV for my bedroom, mainly to watch the local news in the morning and bedtime. Will this pick up cable channels by just plugging the coaxial cable without using a cable box to get the local channels like my other vizios will?”

I don’t know the answer. My cable service requires the basic converter box. This is a great TV. I’m a Vizio fan. Have three older models. If your previous model worked direct to cable, then I would think this one will.
