“the manual lists this model as having BOTH RCA/composite (yellow, white and red) AND component (green, red, blue) inputs. How do i connect them (im guessing its either one or the other not both) do i just connect the yellow video to the green 'Y' input?”

Hello Nate212, you are correct. You can connect one composite or one component cable at a time. For composite the yellow connection would go into the green Y port.
