It will sound like a 2.1 soundbar. I have Vizio 2.1 old soundbar. When I turn off the rear speakers on this M-Series, there is no difference between the 2.1 and 5.1.2 models. The rear speakers are giving the surround effect. Without them, I can not feel the surround sound effect.

Please try again later.In VIZIO Sound Bar Systems the components are self-contained and balanced, so the wattage transmitted between each internal component is already configured to give you the maximum Sound Pressure Level. The satellite speakers would be necessary if wanting to produce 5.1 audio.
