It depends on what you want to do, the sound bar can be used wirelessly if you go with a Bluetooth source, that works fine for music, but may introduce lag if the sound is coming from your tv. Plus, using bluetooth you don't get the surround/atmos sound. So usually from a tv you have to be wired to get the better quality experience. Then the subwoofer is wirelessly connecting to the soundbar and the 2 satellite speakers that go in the back are plugged to the subwoofer, meaning there is no cable at all between the front (the sound bar) and the back (subwoofer + satellite speakers)
