“Will the system pass through a video and audio signal on the only HDMI input when it's completely turned off to the TV? Also will the TV be smart enough to know when the system is off and use it's own speakers or do I have to toggle them on/off?”

I have my 4K Blu-Ray player and DirecTV DVR connected via high speed HDMI to my TV, then from the TV to the soundbar via a single HDMI cable from the TV HDMI ARC out to the soundbar HDMI ARC in. When the soundbar is off, sound automatically switches back to the TV speakers.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.this really depends on your TV. If you have a TV with an ARC HDMI input, the soundbar will automatically turn off when you turn your TV off. The soundbar also has an auto shut down built into it where it will power off 15 minutes after no activity on it's own.
