eARC is needed for lossless audio codecs. Like DOlbyTrue HD Atmos, DTS:X. This soundbar works fine with lossy Atmos from DD+ from the streaming services like netflix. It has ARC. Which can handle lossy codecs and stereo pcm audio. I'm using mine with a TCL TV. And I have no problem getting Atmos from the internal apps on the TV. WHich uses the ARC to get the audio to the speaker bar.
