“I am curious about what the maximum distance my couch can be from the soundbar to have the best atmos experience? I have read a minimum of 5 feet but no mention of a maximum for the optimal sound experience. distance is currently about 6.5 to 7 feet away.”

In that sound range you should be just fine. Our staging area has the couch set about 8 feet back, and the audio still sounds fantastic.
