“Do I need an app on my phone to run anything on this system? All I really want is a system that is simply "plug in and play". I've read that the remote is hard to read and you need an app on your phone to run it.”

Hello Dsur, You have the option to use the app in addition to the remote or instead of the remote, but it is not required.

The remote has a small lcd screen which I didn't really find hard to read in a well lit place, but without a backlight, it's difficult to read in the dark. The remote is missing the height speakers adjustment though. If you need to tweak that to match your room, you'll have to use the app.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You don’t need an app, but one is available and it works well. The remote works fine and is full featured. It isn’t backlight, so near impossible to read the screen in a darkened room. That’s where all the complaints you read come in at.
