Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, it does not need line of sight to the soundbar. I believe that the communication between the two is Bluetooth. The sub does connect to the 2 rear satellite speakers with wire cabling that Vizio provides with the unit. Placement behind your couch would be just fine.
