A:AnswerNo it allows surround speakers to be connected, by wires, to a wireless sub woofer, which I put behind my couch. This means no wires running to the TV/Soundbar side of the room.
A:Answer5.1 means you have 5 separate sound channels. front right, front left, center and a right rear and a left rear channel. The .1 indicates a subwoofer for deep bass. If whatever you're watching is broadcast in 5.1 it will really sound good. Basically 5.1 is designed to make the listener feel they are there in the movie.
A:AnswerNo it does not come with cables to hook up to your tv, it has 1 HDMI input 1 HDMI output, for a single device hook up, it also has a fiber optic digital audio input. If your television has the fiber optic digital audio output, that would be the recommended way to go. If you go HDMI you will be splitting and replicating your video signal which will tend to cause a little bit of signal degradation and if you have to use and HDMI selector you'll have even more degradation to your video signal. Yes the fiber optic will have some degradation to the audio signal, however, this is not a high end speaker (decent middle of the road "convenient" speaker) and you aren't going to be able to tell the difference with a slight audio degradation, however, depending on your television and or devices you could see an impact on the video quality. Anther nice part about the fiber optic is that you can have multiple devices connected to various HDMI inputs on your television, and if it's smart even streaming and have the sound bar always on the same input just change the television input, this makes it very convenient. I have mine set up in my bedroom and have a blu ray, digital cable box and amazon streaming from the television.
As a side note, this is not going to perform anywhere near the level of surround sound receiver and wired speakers, however, if you're just looking to for a significant improvement to the television audio, or want surround sound on a budget, or extremely simple and convenient than this product fits that need. If you're expecting a theater like experience, this (nor no other sound bar) will be able to deliver, you'll need to spend the $$$ to go separate receiver and wried speakers. So knowing the limitation of this system, as long as you're okay with them, then this is a great product!
A:AnswerI bought both LG 4K T.V., LG 4K blu ray player and the Vizio soundbar (s3851) and have it all hooked up together. Works great. Just follow directions on hooking up as it's quite different than my old sound systems. Surround speakers and subwoofer make this system rock!
