“What they mean by 5.1 channel?”

• 5.1 means you have 5 separate sound channels. front right, front left, center and a right rear and a left rear channel. The .1 indicates a subwoofer for deep bass. If whatever you're watching is broadcast in 5.1 it will really sound good. Basically 5.1 is designed to make the listener feel they are there in the movie.

• The 5 channels are Front Left, Front Center, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right. The .1 refers to the sub woofer. If it is x.0, it does not have a sub woofer. If it is 2.x, it has Front Left and Front Right, no rear speakers If it 3.x, it has Front Left, Front Center, and Front Right, no rear speakers
