• Yes, the screen will slightly overlap by about an inch on either side of the dresser, but the feet which support the display are just over 38" apart. I resized and finished an oak stair tread from Lowe's to fit on top of a 36" dresser, because the 3-foot dresser didn't have sufficient length to properly support the 50" set. Now the add-on oak base looks as if it was made for the Vizio M501-G1. You're in good shape with a 42" dresser already, if you choose to purchase this beautiful Quantum dot set.

• Yes, because the legs are basically in the center of the TV.
