your roku would connect via HDMI depending on your headphone connectivity... with the Ultra you can connect your headphones directly to the Roku remote with a headphone cable OR using the ROKU app on your mobile device or tablet, then connect your headphones to your device via bluetooth or audio cable and control the Roku audio using the mobile APP. my wife does this all the time
