• Yes connect all those devices through hdmi to the tv and then run an optical cable from tv to surround sound

• It accommodates 4 hdmi inputs so if your direct tv box has an HDMI output (which it should) you will have no problem there. I have a PS4, TiVo dvr, and amazon fire stick connected with no issues. The optical audio output of the tv connects to my surround with no issues.
