It is not necessary to connect the Switch to port 5. I have read conflicting things about port 5, some saying it's HDMI 1.4 and others saying it is full on HDMI 2.0. If indeed port 5 is an older version, then just put your lowest grade equipment on port 5. The switch is pretty new. I have my switch on port 3 or 4 and it works fine. I believe I have my Blue Ray on port 5. My Blue Ray player is like 6 or 7 years old however... and I hardly ever use it anyway.
