After reading further it appears that you cannot get DTS AC3 or HD 5.1 audio through HDMI on this device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've got the speaker system connected via optical cable to my PC. My pc outputs dts ac3 and hd 5.1 surround sound to the unit smoothly. Then I switch it over to "stereo" and from video to music, and it outputs as 2 channel for my computer system when I'm not watching a movie. I would suspect HDMI to be the same.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You are correct except you want an HDMI switcher, not a splitter. A splitter is used to send 1 HDMI signal to multiple displays like you would see in a restaurant or a sports bar with multiple TV's. The HDMI switcher will switch between multiple HDMI devices to one display/TV. An example of a HDMI switch is listed below. Don't want you to buy the wrong thing. I hope this was helpful.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have everything run into my TV. The TV is connected to the speaker via the optical connection. It seems easier to switch thru the input on the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You shouldn't have a problem with using a splitter. I haven't tried it but I have swapped different devices in and out and it has worked fine. You can also use your TV's ARC HDMI port if you have one. (It would be labeled if you do) Then you should be able to plug all of your devices into your TV, then use an HDMI cable going from the ARC port into the sound bar. Hope this helped!
