• Not necessarily, you can use it with or without voice . When the switch is up /on it means you can use your voice

• No you do not it works just fine without using the voice on remote. It is just an option if you want to turn it on and use it you can.

• Voice is optional and can be disabled by side switch but why would you, voice option is brilliant
