“How durable is the plug? Can it handle the energy that goes through the heater? I’ve had space heaters where the plug has melted and they were never plugged into an extension cord but directly into a wall outlet.”

The plugs and cords meet all the safety standards and requirements and are certified. Safety is a priority to Vornado. Always make sure you are plugging them into snug outlets. Loose and/or worn outlets can sometimes be a factor in cases where this may happen, due to the electrical current being directed elsewhere. You may want to have an electrician look at and possibly replace any worn outlets.
