Hi- The VTech CM18445 does not have a port on the telephone base to connect a fax/printer machine. You can connect the units on different jacks or use a splitter to connect both devices to the telephone line. However, the VTech phone does not have the capability to determine if the incoming call is a fax or a regular call. We recommend to set your fax machine to Fax auto detect. Ideally, the number of rings for the fax machine should be set to a lower value than the number of rings for the answering system with the fax auto detect option active. This way, all types of calls regardless if it is a regular phone call or a fax call will be screened first before being directed to the correct path.
