GRANITESTATEINDUSTRIAL - You can use the VTech CM18445 without being connected to a telephone line. The unit is expandable up to 9 extensions. The compatible extensions for the model is CM18245 (Cordless deskset) and CM18045 (Cordless handset). The main console and both extensions are wall mountable. Thank you! - VTech Support
