• Anwar - The VTech CS5119-2 does not have a built in answering machine to record messages. The feature is available on the model VTech CS5229. Thank you, -VTech Support

• This model doesn't have these features, yes, imsurprised too ! The Vtech im replacing had those features. My thought was it was an old model left on the shelf .
