You pair your Bluetooth enabled cell phone to the DS6671-3 base. As long as your cell phone is within Bluetooth range of the base (max. of about 30ft.), the cordless handsets become extensions of your cell phone, and can make and answer cell calls and landline calls, if you have a landline connected to the base.

Bluetooth stays connected to the base phone. It's ok to receive calls, but making calls require the handset to be used before switching to the bluetooth.
