Hi - You can turn off the auto wake up feature of the VTech RM5754HD. When the said feature is off, the screen of the parent unit will not turn off even when there is no activity on the baby unit. There is a setting to dim the screen that you can turn off and the screen should stay fully lit all the time. This will drain the battery faster of course if not connected to a power source.

You have to mess with the settings and turn off the sleep mode option.
