Danielle - No, the parent unit on the Vtech VM4261 is muted when on split screen mode but there's a feature that you can turn on. The Sound Alert in Split-View will let the parent unit beep and will display "Sound detected at CAM #" whenever the baby unit detects sound. Thank you for your interest!
