• You don't hear right away but it will sound an alert and then switch to the camera where the noise is detected. I believe that is optional.

• Allie - The parent unit of the VTech VM4261 is muted when on Split-view mode. The parent unit will beep and the screen of the parent unit will show "Sound detected at CAM #". Thank you, -VTech Support
