Yes, a computer is required. The only Wacom stand-alone devices are the MobileStudio Pro and the Cintiq Companion lines, that I know of. I think they may have discontinued the Companion line, though. Here's the link to their website so you can see for yourself what they have, but Best Buy might still sell both lines, and so might Amazon, eBay, and other sites like that. Wacom Cintiq Pros and the Cintiq 13hd require computers. https://wacom.com/en-us
