Hello Aaron, Thank you for your interest in our Slimline 500W Power Inverter, the Power Inverter converts 12V power from your vehicle or from a 12V battery source to a 120V power source that can be used with most appliances and electronic devices. It REQUIRES a 12V power source, and is not "Rechargeable" as it does not retain a charge, but rather CONVERT it into 120V.
