Because this uses the older type Ni-Cad rechargeable battery you should charge it for 12 hours for a full charge. This also means you should use it until it is obvious it needs to be recharged and then fully charge it. Don't charge it before it needs it due to the memory effect Ni-Cad batteries suffer from. (Note: Best Buy specs for this state it uses Li-Ion battery which is incorrect.)
