“I haven't even used the water or ice option with my fridge yet because my father has yet to put in a line for me. My fridge is saying i need a new filter so how important is it for me to replace this currently if the water and ice isn't even being used?”

No need to change the filter just don’t assemble the filter on the fridge until you have the water lines.

Once the filter is able to be used we would recommend resetting the filter alert to let it know to restart the time-frame for your filter so you have an accurate measure of when your filter will need changing.
