“I've been getting this when I boot up - "1720-smart hard drive detects imminent failure". Will this fix and work for an older HP all in one computer? Also what will happen to the software that came with the computer if I replace with this hard drive? Thx”

Hi Gemo, I replaced the dead drive in my old HP 520 all-in-one with this new drive a couple of months ago. Installation was easy (there are lots of YouTube videos that detail the procedure). As for the software, anything you had on the old hard drive will be gone. Hopefully, you made recovery discs or thumb drives at some point along the line that will allow you to reload your operating system. If not, HP may be able to provide you with something to get you going. Any other applications you had on your old drive will have to be reloaded. Hope this helps!
