• because it's a full size 31/2" drive and won't fit in a laptop.

• There are two drive formats: 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches. 2.5 inch HDDs are meant for laptops because of their smaller size. Since this is a 3.5 inch drive, it will not fit in a laptop.
