It's a 3.5" internal SATA hardrive. If your desktop has room to install an additional 3.5" drive and has a spare SATA port to attach it to, it should work with no problem.

This is a 3.5inch SATA drive which is compatible with the Y520t. However, you should check inside the desktop to see if you have the cables/ports available to add a second hard drive first before purchasing the drive.

It's a hard drive. As long as your case has a 3.5" bay for a drive available, it is compatible with everything.
